Results of the dyeing trays.

Silk ribbon and cotton lace

Doilies

Lots of threads!

The fabrics were still drying when I took these photos yesterday afternoon. Everything needs ironing or winding into smaller skeins before being photographed and listed.

This is also an experiment using my phone instead of my laptop. I thought it would be easy to take photos and write a post quickly, but no! In order to show my iPhone photos, I had to download Google+ App (on my phone and laptop) and autosave them, before they could be accessed by Blogger. This took several hours, as all my photos (over 400) were autosaved, most of which I should have deleted, as they were just reminders of things, or copies of photos on my iPad. I need to investigate Google+ to see if it's worth it. Another thing to learn  to use properly, along with Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, not forgetting this blog of course!

In other news, I have started a small piece of Broderie Anglais, which will form the basis of my coursework. I shall take a photo when it's a bit bigger and there's a bit more to see.

A New Start

For some reason known only to technical people, my old blog isn't working properly, and so I've decided to start again! I've not bee a very good blogger, so hope that this will kickstart me into more blogging action!

My life is changing, and there are lots of new starts which have happened recently, or will start in the next year. I hope to share some of these with you.

For the last 7 years I have been selling my hand dyed textile supplies on Etsy but I'm planning to close at the end of the year. My husband has retired, and we are moving to a new home on the North Norfolk Coast which we have been refurbishing since July 2014. It's finally finished, apart from a few tweaks, and we plan to move permanently next Spring. We are sharing our time between 2 houses at the moment, so it's difficult to keep my shop going! I've still got quite a lot of stock to dye (including 6 trays which are sitting in the kitchen as I write), so will stay open until it's sold or given away!

I'm also starting my 3rd online class with the fantastic Karen Ruane which I'm really looking forward to. A chance to do more embroidery and design without feeling slightly guilty. I don't know why I should feel like this. I think I'm torn between trying to run my shop, housework and other domestic chores (usually avoided if possible), spending time with my newly retired husband, and doing my own thing.

Anyway, my husband has encouraged me to do this course, as I enjoyed the other two so much, so I WILL be doing more stitching and associated design whether he likes it or not!

That's enough for today. Now I hope that I can publish this and someone will read it!
